Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Cowboys came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
However the rest shakes out, Eboigbe at that price is a win they earned. The cost of the Gray reach is exactly the players who went right after him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a building block for the line, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
They did well to land Troy Fautanu in slot 29, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
T'Vondre Sweat slid further than he should have, and the 56th pick is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jonah Elliss at pick 74 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cedric Gray in the Round 3 slot, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They reached into another round for Isaac Guerendo, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Justin Eboigbe in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Nathaniel Watson at the 216th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Bub Means in No. 233 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A big swing on Joshua Cephus at the 244th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
