The Cowboys did not so much draft Richard Jibunor as overpay for him, 80 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
On value alone, Coker makes the weekend a net positive. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get protection for the quarterback. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They liked Cooper Beebe enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 56. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They reached into another round for Audric Estime, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
Taking Isaiah Davis in pick No. 174 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A big swing on Michael Barrett at the Round 6 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 233 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Richard Jibunor this early at Round 7, Pick 24. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
