If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Eagles, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The cost of the Lovett reach is exactly the players who went right after him. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Chris Braswell in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at pick 69 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Zak Zinter in Round 4, Pick 5 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Brenden Rice at No. 120 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Christian Jones at par in slot 140, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Fabien Lovett well ahead of where he belonged. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid sticker price for Jaheim Bell in pick No. 171, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Decamerion Richardson in the 172nd pick is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They read the board right and Josh Proctor was the payoff at the 210th pick. The roster fit checks out.
