Whoever sat across the table from the Packers should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will need Allen to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Adding Myles Bryant by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get juice off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Kool-Aid McKinstry at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Javon Bullard at pick 59 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A big swing on Braelon Allen at the 88th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Walter Rouse in the 169th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reach for Javion Cohen in pick No. 189; a little patience would have been rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good price on Jaylan Ford in Round 6, Pick 44, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Trente Jones at No. 255 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The roster fit checks out.
