Green Bay Packers

A solid, sensible weekend for the Packers: B-.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Jarrian Jones, 57 picks early at pick No. 91. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

Gore Jr. falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Jackson Powers-Johnson · C · rank 29
In the 25th overall pick they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Tyler Nubin · S · rank 40
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Nubin. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Jeremiah Trotter Jr. · LB · rank 60
They paid sticker price for Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in pick 58, and that is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Tyler Davis · DT · rank 116
They talked themselves into Tyler Davis at the Round 3 slot, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Jarrian Jones · CB · rank 148
A real head-scratcher, Jarrian Jones in the 91st pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Mason McCormick · OT · rank 159
Mason McCormick at No. 127 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.32 · Pick 168 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 177
They liked Isaac Guerendo enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 168. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.29 · Pick 204 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 219
They paid a round early for Garret Greenfield in pick No. 204, more than the board wanted. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Elijah Jones · CB · rank 193
Elijah Jones at Round 6, Pick 41 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · Trey Knox · TE · rank 235
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Trey Knox in No. 243. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.31 · Pick 251 · Frank Gore Jr. · RB · rank 223
The board fumbled Frank Gore Jr. all the way to the 251st overall pick, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
