Call it larceny. Garret Greenfield sat on the board until the Round 7 slot, and the Dolphins did not need to be asked twice. The bottom line is a respectable B.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Every board in the league had Glaze lower, and that gap is the story. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Worthy at slot 55 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jeremiah Trotter Jr.. It fills a real need, too.
Fair-plus on Christian Mahogany, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Justin Eboigbe at the 158th overall pick is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A premium they did not need to pay, Delmar Glaze a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Johnny Dixon is a better player than pick No. 198 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A minor itch, scratched.
Jaylan Ford in No. 226 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Garret Greenfield in pick 241 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
