The phones were a trap the Dolphins kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. McNeil-Warren falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. With quarterback and edge rusher unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them.
The Foster pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 11 they get a lead back with juice at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
They read the board right and A.J. Haulcy was the payoff at the 62nd overall pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback and edge rusher to take Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, a safety that was not the priority.
Jake Slaughter in pick No. 78 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value with a capital V on Jacob Rodriguez in slot 90, a genuine coup. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had Mike Washington Jr. higher than the Round 3 slot, and the running back fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
