There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Dolphins started one anyway for Eric Gentry, 126 picks ahead of schedule. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took McNeil-Warren. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.
On the needs board they went 8 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 18 they get a featured back at a price that makes it sweeter.
In pick 30 they get an anchor for the offensive line, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Emmanuel Pregnon in the 43rd pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No edge and no loss on Gabe Jacas in slot 49; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jaishawn Barham in the Round 3 slot, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A quiet steal in Round 3, Pick 23: Jacob Rodriguez for less than the market said. The roster fit checks out.
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in pick 92 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Fair-plus on Devin Moore, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A edge rusher of that caliber at No. 97 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nothing to complain about; Tacario Davis went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Michael Trigg at the 130th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Eli Raridon slid further than he should have, and slot 151 is lovely value for the tight end. A need, and now a little less of one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dametrious Crownover at Round 5, Pick 12. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A clean, defensible pick in the 163rd pick with a little surplus value in Drew Allar. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Domani Jackson at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
They let Jeff Caldwell come to them and pounced at pick 196. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A real head-scratcher, Eric Gentry in the 227th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Adam Randall at Round 7, Pick 18 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jordan Hall at the 238th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
