The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Dolphins reached some 101 spots for Thor Griffith, and value like that does not grow back.
However the rest shakes out, Burnip at that price is a win they earned. Everything downstream of Shedeur Sanders depends on Shedeur Sanders, and the building knows it. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.
For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.
It is a haul that will look even better come September.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 1st overall pick they get a franchise quarterback. The biggest hole, addressed.
Wyatt Milum in No. 13 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Armand Membou at pick 35 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Value said wait; Dylan Fairchild in Round 2, Pick 16 says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Fair-plus on Elijah Arroyo, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Carson Schwesinger in the 101st pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kurtis Rourke well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No drama and no debate, Darius Alexander went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 17. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They reached into another round for Willie Lampkin, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay Cam Skattebo at No. 140 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They reached a country mile for Ty Hamilton at pick No. 150, and the board is aghast. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A real head-scratcher, Addison West in the 154th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson at the Round 5 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It fills a real need, too.
A big swing on Thor Griffith at slot 176, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Graham Mertz. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Shaun Dolac this early at the 231st pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value with a capital V on Cody Lindenberg in the Round 7 slot, a genuine coup. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They let Hunter Wohler come to them and pounced at the 242nd overall pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A specialist of that caliber at pick 252 is the definition of value, full stop. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
