The Dolphins did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and JD Bertrand fell into the Round 7 slot. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. Quantity was the play, for better or worse.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 21st pick they get a blindside protector at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Cooper Beebe in pick No. 55 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value with a capital V on Kris Jenkins in pick 66, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jalen McMillan at the Round 4 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A quiet steal in the 158th overall pick: Nehemiah Pritchett for less than the market said. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Good price on Khristian Boyd in No. 184, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
