The trade table was where it all came apart. The Dolphins shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They are betting Hadden proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
That Proctor pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 29 they get a disruptor off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tyler Guyton at the 35th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Edgerrin Cooper. A need, and now a little less of one.
A straight-up fair deal on Ricky Pearsall at the 55th pick, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid a round early for Cooper Beebe in pick 67, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Kamal Hadden at No. 157 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Khristian Boyd in No. 181 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board had Dwight McGlothern higher than Round 6, Pick 11, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
No drama and no debate, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint went about where he belonged in pick No. 200. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Josh Proctor in slot 239 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
