Call it larceny. Chris Paul Jr. sat on the board until Round 5, Pick 17, and the Dolphins did not need to be asked twice. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
Clark has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 20 they get a press-man option on the boundary. Need was not the driver here.
Jalon Walker at the 48th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They let Tyler Booker come to them and pounced at Round 2, Pick 21. It fills a real need, too.
The board fumbled Deone Walker all the way to No. 98, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Andrew Mukuba in slot 114 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor itch, scratched.
Taking Mason Taylor in pick 119 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Circle this one: Jared Wilson at the 133rd pick is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No edge and no loss on Jackson Slater in the Round 5 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Somehow Chris Paul Jr. was still sitting there in pick No. 154, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They barely believed it either: Cody Simon still on the board at pick 195. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Damien Martinez in Round 7, Pick 8 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
De'Corian Clark at slot 231 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Thor Griffith. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
