You could see the war room lean forward. Elijah Jones at the 239th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The cost of the Bortolini reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 29 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Keon Coleman at the 73rd overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Trevor Keegan at the 157th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Zion Tupuola-Fetui at No. 186 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reach on Tanor Bortolini in Round 6, Pick 25; the board had better options right there. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Elijah Jones in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
