The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, Round 3, Pick 30, roughly 43 picks past where he belonged. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Spending an early pick on cornerback with tight end and running back open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. Every board in the league had Hurst lower, and that gap is the story.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner at fair value.
In pick 30 they get a cornerstone up front at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
They did well to land Joshua Josephs in the 47th pick, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jacob Rodriguez at Round 3, Pick 11 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board had cheaper options than Ted Hurst at the 78th overall pick, and it noticed. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Christen Miller in No. 87 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at slot 94 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Will Lee III adds a cornerback and leaves tight end and running back untouched.
No edge and no loss on Harold Perkins Jr. in pick No. 130; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
The board had CJ Daniels higher than Round 5, Pick 11, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They robbed the room for Taylen Green here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Fa'alili Fa'amoe in the 238th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
