The real work happened on the phones. The Chiefs fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
If Stribling pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
The Chiefs paired the rookies with proven help, Foster Moreau leading the way.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Olaivavega Ioane in the 28th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
In the Round 1 slot they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They took Zion Young at par in pick No. 41, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Caleb Tiernan at pick 49 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A wild overpay on Treydan Stukes in slot 69, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A minor itch, scratched.
Elijah Sarratt in the 74th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They liked Jack Endries enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 106. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
