Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Sebastian Castro got past him. The Packers do not have to explain a thing at the 132nd overall pick. The final tally is a middling C+.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Reaching for Fleming left real value on the table behind him.
If Ajani Cornelius and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
They robbed the room for Ajani Cornelius here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
Somehow Sebastian Castro was still sitting there in pick No. 132, and they pounced on premier safety value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Will Lee III at the 237th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
PJ Williams at Round 7, Pick 22 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
They reached a country mile for Julian Fleming at No. 250, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
