The Packers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Trey Amos, the No. 57 name on the board, in Round 7, Pick 21.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
It is a haul that will look even better come September.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 26 they get an island corner at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jack Sawyer slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the edge rusher. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Ashton Jeanty in the 54th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They barely believed it either: Wyatt Milum still on the board at pick No. 87. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
You do not let a cornerback like Jahdae Barron reach Round 4, Pick 21 and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Steal is underselling it; Jihaad Campbell at pick 138 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Tre Harris in the 196th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
They robbed the room for Trey Amos here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
