Call it larceny. Bru McCoy sat on the board until the Round 6 slot, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The Dumas-Johnson pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, tight end and other spots. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Taliese Fuaga went about where he belonged in No. 26. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A straight-up fair deal on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at Round 2, Pick 11, value and slot in agreement. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Kingsley Suamataia at slot 49 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value with a capital V on Kamren Kinchens in the 73rd pick, a genuine coup. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Christian Haynes at pick No. 89 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Bucky Irving in pick 109 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They read the board right and Jason Marshall Jr. was the payoff at the Round 4 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A curious use of the 126th overall pick. Quarterback, tight end and other spots needed the pick; a linebacker in Jamon Dumas-Johnson did not.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tahj Brooks. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Zion Tupuola-Fetui slid further than he should have, and the 174th overall pick is lovely value for the edge rusher. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jordan Burch at pick 187 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They will replay Bru McCoy at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Willie Roberts at No. 219 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board had Tyler Batty higher than slot 230, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
