Call it larceny. Jarrian Jones sat on the board until pick 182, and the Patriots did not need to be asked twice.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Taysom Hill gives the group a proven body among the projects. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 14 they get a true top target at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nice patience on Amarius Mims, who had no business lasting to pick 34. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
J.J. McCarthy in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Malachi Corley in Round 3, Pick 4 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kingsley Suamataia at the 72nd overall pick is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cam Hart at slot 104. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Ben Sinnott at the 136th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jarrian Jones at No. 182 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Josh Proctor slid further than he should have, and Round 7, Pick 9 is lovely value for the safety. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A tidy bit of business in pick 230, where Michael Barrett graded well above the range. A minor itch, scratched.
