The Patriots spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
Thrash has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Oladapo value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 3 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
A tidy little value on Troy Fautanu in the 34th pick, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jamari Thrash at slot 68 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Max Melton at No. 104 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A minor itch, scratched.
A straight-up fair deal on Jaheim Bell at the 136th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Nice patience on Kitan Oladapo, who had no business lasting to pick No. 182. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They went early on Blake Watson in pick 229, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
