Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Dolphins spent pick No. 87 on Devin Moore while interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots sat unaddressed. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They will need Moore to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.11 · Pick 11 · Mansoor Delane · CB · rank 8
In the 11th overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside. More want than need.
R1.30 · Pick 30 · Akheem Mesidor · DL-EDGE · rank 37
Akheem Mesidor in the 30th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R2.11 · Pick 43 · Max Iheanachor · OT · rank 46
Max Iheanachor at Round 2, Pick 11 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.11 · Pick 75 · Chase Bisontis · OG · rank 70
A tidy little value on Chase Bisontis in the 75th pick, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.23 · Pick 87 · Devin Moore · CB · rank 90
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending No. 87 on Devin Moore with interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots unsolved.
R3.26 · Pick 90 · Deion Burks · WR · rank 89
No edge and no loss on Deion Burks in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.30 · Pick 94 · Malik Muhammad · CB · rank 99
A surprising call. With interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots still to address, they spent pick No. 94 on Malik Muhammad, a cornerback they were not short of.
R4.30 · Pick 130 · CJ Daniels · WR · rank 142
CJ Daniels in pick 130 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.11 · Pick 151 · Louis Moore · S · rank 164
They liked Louis Moore enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 151. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R7.11 · Pick 227 · Xavier Nwankpa · S · rank 228
They paid sticker price for Xavier Nwankpa in Round 7, Pick 11, and that is fine. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R7.22 · Pick 238 · Diego Pavia · QB · rank 232
Diego Pavia at the Round 7 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
