Some picks age like wine; Logan Jones at Round 7, Pick 42 will need to, sitting 34 spots clear of his grade.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Getting Sanders where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.8 · Pick 8 · Tetairoa McMillan · WR · rank 6
In the 8th pick they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Josh Conerly Jr. · OT · rank 47
They paid up for Josh Conerly Jr. at pick 39 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Nic Scourton · DL-EDGE · rank 27
Nic Scourton at the 41st overall pick is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.8 · Pick 72 · Aireontae Ersery · OT · rank 57
They let Aireontae Ersery come to them and pounced at pick No. 72. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.22 · Pick 86 · Evan Stewart · WR · rank 93
Evan Stewart in Round 3, Pick 22 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.7 · Pick 108 · Harold Fannin Jr. · TE · rank 94
They read the board right and Harold Fannin Jr. was the payoff at the Round 4 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.6 · Pick 144 · Daylen Everette · CB · rank 158
A reach for Daylen Everette in pick No. 144; a little patience would have been rewarded. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R7.4 · Pick 218 · Jaydn Ott · RB · rank 203
Jaydn Ott slid further than he should have, and the Round 7 slot is lovely value for the running back. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R7.6 · Pick 220 · Jamaree Caldwell · DL · rank 251
A real head-scratcher, Jamaree Caldwell in Round 7, Pick 6 is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.22 · Pick 236 · Shilo Sanders · S · rank 216
Circle this one: Shilo Sanders at the 236th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.42 · Pick 256 · Logan Jones · C · rank 290
A wild overpay on Logan Jones in pick 256, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The roster fit checks out.
