The Cowboys spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Johnny Dixon, the No. 191 name on the board, in the Round 7 slot. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Reaching for Powers-Johnson left real value on the table behind him.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get a building block for the line, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Edgerrin Cooper in pick 56 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Bucky Irving at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They will replay Kalen King at the 174th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tahj Washington at Round 6, Pick 41 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Johnny Dixon in pick No. 233 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Circle this one: Garret Greenfield at the 244th pick is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
