The rest of the league will want that one back. Dylan Sampson tumbling to the Commanders in pick No. 147 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The cost of the Horn Jr. reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 21 they get a red-zone target to build around at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Kenneth Grant at the 55th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Somehow Brashard Smith was still sitting there in the Round 3 slot, and they pounced on premier running back value. The roster fit checks out.
Steal is underselling it; Dylan Sampson at pick No. 147 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Lathan Ransom in the 198th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They liked Kyren Lacy enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 235. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They talked themselves into Jimmy Horn Jr. at slot 239, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Barrett Carter in Round 7, Pick 31 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It adds depth where they could use a little.
