The trade table was a mismatch, and the Commanders were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
Holker has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Landing Jackson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver.
In the end it comes back to Olumuyiwa Fashanu, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 10 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Nothing to complain about; Chris Braswell went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in slot 67 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor itch, scratched.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 100 with a little surplus value in Zak Zinter. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Dallin Holker at the 102nd overall pick, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They robbed the room for Khyree Jackson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Sam Hartman at Round 6, Pick 6, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A big swing on Antwaun Powell-Ryland at the 223rd pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
