The Cowboys bet big and early on Myles Cole, 33 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The Jackson steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a blindside protector. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Malachi Corley well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Leonard Taylor III this early at pick 89. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They liked Cedric Gray enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 124. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Khyree Jackson at the 140th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good price on LaDarius Henderson in pick No. 174, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A quiet steal in slot 212: Kimani Vidal for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
They talked themselves into Myles Cole at the 245th pick, and the board did not agree. A minor itch, scratched.
