New York Jets

The Jets won the night they stopped Scott from sliding. Grade: A-.

Thirty-one other rooms let Keionte Scott slide, and the Jets were the ones holding the card at the 103rd overall pick. Highway robbery.

The cost of the Allar reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The Jets indulged a want in Styles while a need in edge rusher and interior defensive lineman stayed open.

In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Arvell Reese · LB · rank 7
In No. 12 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. Need was not the driver here.
R1.16 · Pick 16 · Makai Lemon · WR · rank 10
Makai Lemon in Round 1, Pick 16 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R1.20 · Pick 20 · Kenyon Sadiq · TE · rank 18
In pick 20 they get a matchup weapon at tight end at fair value. More want than need.
R2.1 · Pick 33 · Sonny Styles · LB · rank 20
Of all the spots to shop, they chose linebacker. Sonny Styles in the 33rd overall pick leaves edge rusher and interior defensive lineman for later.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Emmanuel Pregnon · OG · rank 38
A clean, defensible pick in the 44th pick with a little surplus value in Emmanuel Pregnon. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.28 · Pick 92 · Emmanuel McNeil-Warren · S · rank 51
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in the Round 3 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Keionte Scott · CB · rank 60
Circle this one: Keionte Scott at slot 103 is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.16 · Pick 116 · Drew Allar · QB · rank 156
Drew Allar at pick No. 116 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.40 · Pick 140 · Kaytron Allen · RB · rank 147
Kaytron Allen at pick No. 140 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.39 · Pick 179 · Bryce Boettcher · LB · rank 172
They did well to land Bryce Boettcher in the Round 5 slot, just ahead of his grade. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R7.12 · Pick 228 · Josh Cameron · WR · rank 187
They will replay Josh Cameron at Round 7, Pick 12 for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.26 · Pick 242 · John Michael Gyllenborg · TE · rank 228
A quiet steal in slot 242: John Michael Gyllenborg for less than the market said. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
