Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Packers came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Every board in the league had Benson lower, and that gap is the story. The Rob Havenstein deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
JC Latham in the 13th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Calen Bullock at par in pick No. 41, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at the 43rd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
A reach on Trey Benson in No. 45; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Caelen Carson in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No edge and no loss on Amarius Mims in Round 3, Pick 18; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
