The real work happened on the phones. The Giants fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.
They will need Milton III to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They banked enough surplus on Jenkins to cover a lot of smaller sins.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Bottom line, with Tyler Nubin leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 27 they get a ballhawk on the back end. The biggest hole, addressed.
Keon Coleman in the 37th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nice patience on Patrick Paul, who had no business lasting to pick 54. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cooper Beebe at pick No. 59. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Kris Jenkins in the 69th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They let Brenden Rice come to them and pounced at the Round 3 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A real head-scratcher, Joe Milton III in No. 105 is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
A premium they did not need to pay, Mike Sainristil a notch or two before his time. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Oronde Gadsden II at the Round 6 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
