Washington Commanders

Grand theft in pick No. 223: the Commanders steal Jordan and grade out a C.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Commanders shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. It lands right in the middle: a C, no more, no less.

However the rest shakes out, Jordan at that price is a win they earned. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

If Kool-Aid McKinstry and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.22 · Pick 22 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 19
In the 22nd overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Tyler Guyton · OT · rank 41
Tyler Guyton in Round 2, Pick 4 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Adonai Mitchell · WR · rank 36
Adonai Mitchell in pick 37 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 59
Edgerrin Cooper at No. 67 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Jonathon Brooks · RB · rank 62
Jonathon Brooks at the Round 3 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.2 · Pick 102 · Zak Zinter · OG · rank 94
Zak Zinter at the 102nd pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.5 · Pick 141 · Dallin Holker · TE · rank 138
Nothing to complain about; Dallin Holker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.6 · Pick 181 · Jordan Jefferson · DT · rank 177
Jordan Jefferson at pick No. 181 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.3 · Pick 223 · Jawhar Jordan · RB · rank 202
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Jawhar Jordan in slot 223, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
