When the story of this class is written, it opens with Frank Crum at No. 255, a reach of 39 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Chambers falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T'Vondre Sweat. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Braden Fiske in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Mike Sainristil slid further than he should have, and the 88th overall pick is lovely value for the cornerback. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at the 91st pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A quiet steal in No. 126: Spencer Rattler for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Good price on Walter Rouse in the Round 5 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Trente Jones is a better player than pick No. 202 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A linebacker of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 44 is the definition of value, full stop. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A reach on Kimani Vidal in pick 245; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Frank Crum in the 255th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
