The Packers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Brashard Smith, the No. 100 name on the board, in Round 7, Pick 34. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Every board in the league had Lachey lower, and that gap is the story.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd pick they get a potential shutdown corner, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board fumbled Derrick Harmon all the way to pick No. 54, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They took Jake Majors at par in the 87th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the Round 4 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Barrett Carter at Round 5, Pick 21 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They barely believed it either: Connor Colby still on the board at slot 196. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Luke Lachey in pick 237 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steal is underselling it; Brashard Smith at No. 250 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
