Green Bay Packers

Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Packers.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Joe Milton III at Round 5, Pick 33 is 47 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

However the rest shakes out, Rosengarten at that price is a win they earned. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.4 · Pick 36 · Amarius Mims · OT · rank 23
They let Amarius Mims come to them and pounced at the 36th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R2.11 · Pick 43 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 46
They took Junior Colson at par in pick No. 43, which is nothing to complain about. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 62
By-the-book stuff, Jaden Hicks at pick 58 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 53
Chris Braswell is a better player than the Round 3 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 89
Dominick Puni at No. 88 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Jarrian Jones · CB · rank 123
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jarrian Jones well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Roger Rosengarten · OT · rank 97
Roger Rosengarten in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
R5.3 · Pick 139 · Elijah Jones · CB · rank 139
No drama and no debate, Elijah Jones went about where he belonged in No. 139. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 216
Joe Milton III at pick No. 169 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Edefuan Ulofoshio · LB · rank 205
A straight-up fair deal on Edefuan Ulofoshio at slot 202, value and slot in agreement. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 230
A reach on Trey Taylor in Round 6, Pick 44; the board had better options right there. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Nick Gargiulo · C · rank 265
They talked themselves into Nick Gargiulo at the 245th pick, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Jaylon Carlies · S · rank 270
Jaylon Carlies in the 255th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
