The Zion Logue pick is the one that will follow the Cowboys into the fall. They took him 26 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The Baker value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Kingsley Suamataia in pick 56; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No drama and no debate, Marist Liufau went about where he belonged in the 87th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Jarrian Jones at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Grayson Murphy in No. 174 is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Isaiah Davis in pick No. 197. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Javon Baker at slot 212 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Zion Logue in the Round 7 slot, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
