Nobody else had Drake Nugent anywhere near slot 171. The Eagles did, by 40 spots, and that gap is the whole story. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. They will answer for taking linebacker early while wide receiver, interior defensive lineman and other spots went begging. On value alone, Davis makes the weekend a net positive.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Quinyon Mitchell at the 22nd pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Edgerrin Cooper in No. 50 is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A quiet steal in pick 53: Tyler Nubin for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose linebacker. James Williams in pick No. 120 leaves wide receiver, interior defensive lineman and other spots for later.
Nothing to complain about; Brennan Jackson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Drake Nugent in the Round 5 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Isaiah Davis at No. 172 is the proof. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Caedan Wallace at the 210th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
