The Chargers' one glaring miss is edge rusher, a need they left exactly as they found it. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The Spann-Ford pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. On value alone, Sweat makes the weekend a net positive.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 8th pick they get a matchup weapon at tight end. A real need, handled.
T'Vondre Sweat slipping to the Round 2 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jackson Powers-Johnson at No. 72 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Cam Hart in pick 108 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jason Marshall Jr. in Round 5, Pick 9 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Brevyn Spann-Ford at pick No. 186 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They jumped the gun on Jalen Berger, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A need, and now a little less of one.
