The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Josaiah Stewart, the No. 53 name on the board, sitting there at the 247th pick like a gift left on the doorstep.
That linebacker hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.
Pick-by-Pick
A quiet steal in slot 12: Travis Hunter for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Ashton Jeanty at the 44th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
You do not let a quarterback like Cam Ward reach the 76th overall pick and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Alfred Collins in No. 149 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Somehow Jahdae Barron was still sitting there in pick 171, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Armand Membou in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Taking Wyatt Milum in pick No. 204 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jaxson Dart in Round 6, Pick 35 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Tre Harris at the Round 7 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Josaiah Stewart in No. 247 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It adds depth where they could use a little.
