Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Quincy Riley got past him. The Commanders do not have to explain a thing at slot 207.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 29 they get a go-to option on the outside, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Azareye'h Thomas at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Somehow TreVeyon Henderson was still sitting there in No. 79, and they pounced on premier running back value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Good price on Oronde Gadsden II in pick 148, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Quincy Riley at slot 207 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Miles Frazier went about where he belonged in the 238th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing LaJohntay Wester in Round 7, Pick 32. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
