The Vikings spent the pick that matters most on Bo Nix, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
If Proctor pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
The McGlothern pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Bo Nix at the 11th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They went early on Braden Fiske in Round 2, Pick 10, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A big swing on Cedric Gray at pick No. 108, well ahead of any board in the building. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Trevor Keegan at pick 129 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They jumped the gun on Luke McCaffrey, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A need, and now a little less of one.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Josh Proctor in slot 167, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Fair-plus on Dillon Johnson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value with a capital V on Dwight McGlothern in the 188th pick, a genuine coup. A minor itch, scratched.
Garret Greenfield slipping to the Round 7 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
