Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Cowboys spent slot 87 on Braelon Allen, a name most had 72 spots down the list.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.
