The Gabe Hall selection is the head-turner. The Cowboys reached 33 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
That Davis pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
Jordan Morgan at Round 1, Pick 24 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Xavier Legette was still sitting there in the 56th overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Khyree Jackson. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tommy Eichenberg in pick No. 124 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached into another round for Gabe Hall, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Isaiah Davis at No. 212 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 7, Pick 25 with a little surplus value in Nathaniel Watson. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
