If confidence were a draft strategy, the Cowboys would have aced it. Jasheen Davis at slot 247 is 97 spots clear of where he belonged.
Landing Belton that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 12 they get a three-down runner at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
The board fumbled Nick Emmanwori all the way to No. 44, and they scooped it up. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jack Bech in the Round 3 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Darius Alexander in the 149th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: Anthony Belton still on the board at the 171st overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
