Somebody in slot 132 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chiefs sat still while TreVeyon Henderson, the No. 55 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.
Trapilo has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.
Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd pick they get a building block for the line, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They paid sticker price for Deone Walker in No. 64, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Malaki Starks at pick No. 66 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A linebacker of that caliber at the 96th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay TreVeyon Henderson at Round 4, Pick 31 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
