The Vikings torched the value chart for Sam Hartman, taking him 82 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Pritchett pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick-by-Pick
A quiet steal in Round 3, Pick 8: Bralen Trice for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Mekhi Wingo in pick No. 108 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Blake Fisher went about where he belonged in the 111th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A reasonable price with a little left over, James Williams in pick 129. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They read the board right and Nehemiah Pritchett was the payoff at No. 157. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A slide stopped in slot 167, with Kitan Oladapo worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Sam Hartman at the 177th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A big swing on Miyan Williams at Round 7, Pick 10, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value with a capital V on JD Bertrand in pick 232, a genuine coup. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
