The war room fell hard for Keilan Robinson, and it showed at the 255th pick: 54 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
That McCaffrey pick is the receipt they will wave around later. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get an island corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No edge and no loss on Tyler Nubin in No. 41; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A quiet steal in pick No. 58: Edgerrin Cooper for less than the market said. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A reach for Christian Mahogany in the Round 3 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Khyree Jackson at pick 91 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ben Sinnott. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They barely believed it either: Luke McCaffrey still on the board at the Round 5 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They paid up for Caedan Wallace at No. 202 when waiting would have done the job. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Frank Gore Jr. in pick No. 219 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Marcellas Dial in the 245th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A wild overpay on Keilan Robinson in slot 255, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
