Some picks age like wine; Pierce Quick at pick No. 213 will need to, sitting 160 spots clear of his grade. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. Spending an early pick on edge rusher with wide receiver, cornerback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. They banked enough surplus on Dorlus to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A straight-up fair deal on Edgerrin Cooper at pick No. 56, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Brandon Dorlus at pick 87. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They bypassed pressing needs at wide receiver, cornerback and other spots to take Darius Robinson, an edge rusher that was not the priority.
Braelon Allen slipping to slot 173 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It fills a real need, too.
Pierce Quick at the 213th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jalen Sundell this early at pick No. 242. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
