This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: James Williams, the No. 135 name on the board, stolen at pick 158. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. The cost of the Jenkins reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd pick they get a problem off the edge, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Brenden Rice at slot 64 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Matt Goncalves in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They took Daijun Edwards at par in Round 4, Pick 33, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
They barely believed it either: James Williams still on the board at pick No. 158. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Fair-plus on LaDarius Henderson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Omar Speights in No. 210 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They liked Darius Muasau enough to skip the value, taking him in the 219th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid sticker price for Anthony Gould in pick No. 250, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
