Nobody had Hunter Nourzad this high, and it is not close. The Chiefs reached 27 spots to get him at pick No. 132.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Wallace.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 32 they get a weapon on the perimeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Nothing to complain about; Kingsley Suamataia went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Trey Benson is a better player than slot 95 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
A real head-scratcher, Hunter Nourzad in the 132nd overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Malik Mustapha in Round 5, Pick 23 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A minor itch, scratched.
No drama and no debate, Grayson Murphy went about where he belonged in pick 173. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Trevin Wallace at slot 252 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
