They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Will Sheppard, 128 picks early at pick 171. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.
Majors falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Hit on Tyler Booker and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 91st overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They read the board right and Dontay Corleone was the payoff at pick No. 127. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Taking Tyler Warren in Round 5, Pick 11 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jake Majors reach No. 163 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
They talked themselves into Will Sheppard at the 171st pick, and the board did not agree. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jihaad Campbell in the Round 6 slot, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A wild overpay on Trey Wedig in Round 7, Pick 36, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
