For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Cowboys walked out of the weekend still thin at cornerback, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Ford. The cost of the Lee reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get protection for the quarterback, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Calen Bullock in No. 87. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cedric Gray. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jaylan Ford at the 213th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Logan Lee at pick 231 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A tidy bit of business in Round 7, Pick 22, where Rasheen Ali graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board had Jordan Whittington higher than No. 257, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
